The Brain knows how to integrate natural and artificial vision
Researchers have discovered that the brain can integrate natural and artificial sight while still maintaining important information processing for vision. This could be a promising treatment for age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD).
AMD is the most common cause of severe visual loss among people aged 50 or older.
Although there is currently no cure for AMD (astigmatism of the retina), recent advances in artificial retinal implants could lead to a treatment that works.
